Ok, so I've been giving this some thought. I think we need variety. Once a month we have our ongoing quest (not sure how this is going to play out now that Omm is Baron. As William said, kinda tough for him to play both sides of the fence). But other than that it's pretty much the same every week. We show up, spend 45 minutes shooting the shit, getting prepared, putting the final touches on something we built that week, discussing aspects of the game, and what not, which I don't mind one bit. We're building the camaraderie. Great. Then we ditch for a while. We have different ditch games that we play. There's a little variety. Wonderful. Then we break into two teams. One team go on that side of the creek, the other team stay here. Fight. Round one. In my opinion the quests are role play heavy versus actual fighting, which is awesome. One of the complaints about Amtgard is it's moved away from the RP side, and I agree, although I still believe the people have moved away, the rules haven't forced people away from RP. I think the other 3 weeks we need different mini-battlegames. Something the opposite of the ongoing quest, that can be played out in one day, that still involves teams, that leans more towards the fighting aspect but allows a some room to toss some RP in. Maybe make more than 2 teams. As you know, I am very active on the eSam site, and there are some good ideas on there. Team one and Team 2 are brutally at war. Team 3 accidentally wanders into the middle of their land with 3 satchles of (insert slightly valuable items here). Or play capture the flag class style. Personally, I've never been good at developing that kind of stuff, which is probably why I never got into D&D much, because I knew I could never be a DM (although I did get heavily into Shadowrun for a while). I'd be willing to assist in the development of such ideas, but as for coming up with my own...quite frankly, I suck. |

Well you can blame our previous leader for his lack of ingenuity. Now that I am in charge, I plan on changing things up a bit. I promise. |

Cap the flag rules would be simple to whip up. Allow the flag carrier to wield a shield or weapon in the 1 free arm whilst running with the flag. Have defender like positions(polearm, sword & board) near your own goals. have attacker positions(florentine, chain) trying to get the flag. its almost exactally like jugging. Which we should also do sometime. |
