Word of our new rules and playtesting and breaking from Amtgard is getting out and has now reached our sponsoring kingdom of Goldenvale. As pretty much the only member of BRH active on the ESam boards, obviously these questions are directed at me. I am pretty much just telling the truth and directing them to our AmtWiki site and telling them that we are keeping within the legality of the Amtgard rules and when we do playtest new things, we are not presenting ourselves at Amtgard or under the Kingdom of GV. I just wanted to inform the group as to what I have been asked and my reply to give you all a heads up should you be contacted by anyone from GV or Amtgard, Inc.

Thanks for the heads up - Would you be able to link to any forum discussion on esam concerning this for us?

well, for some reason the thread links aren't coming up in my browser bar for me, but if you do a search for West Virginia amtgard you'll find a thread. I'm mainly speaking of private messages I have gotten, the one I got today in particular stemmed from someone asking me to post to the Goldenvale forum to let them know we are alive and well....here it is:

Hi Ambrose,

Saw your message and read through the Amtwiki entry for BRH. As a member of the Kingdom of Goldenvale, I wanted to see if there was anything the Kingdom could do to keep you guys playing Amtgard; would hate to lose a group!

That said, as President of the GVBOD, I need to clarify whether you are using these alternate rules under the name Amtgard or referencing your group as part of The Kingdom of Goldenvale. While I understand and appreciate your groups desire to be unique, I also must consider the possible legal ramifications.

Like I said though, I would love to do find a solution that would convince you to stay and I would also love to see a copy of the new rules your group is using, they may be very worthwhile ideas for Amtgard and could better the game as a whole, once they go through the proper process.
